Upon returning from a quick trip to Chicago, I found my printed book had arrived. There was a bit of delay in my getting to take a look at it, and then more delay writing this up as I healed from successful carpal tunnel surgery, but I’m finally back on the keyboard.
My initial thoughts were that the book looks pretty good, better in artificial light than daylight, as the toner process shows a bit of a bias towards a cool rendition. Comparing it to the tests I had sent earlier, I don’t think it is as well printed as it could be. The black and white images especially show a bias away from neutral.
I think it’s within the limits of acceptability for the process used to make it. The trimming and binding look good, and it’s nice to have to share with guests.
Coming from a long involvment in high end printing, I’m always going to be a tough customer to satisfy.
I’ll be creating a few more in the fall, and will probably use a smaller format for those.
I’m glad it’s done, been an interesting experience, and I learned a lot doing it.
Congratulations! Looks like it will be amazing.
You have earned the right to be fussy!! Still, looking at those images online offered up stunning views of your trip. Glad you're healing!
